Who are the denialists now?

The revelation that it is more than likely Gleick rather than Bast from Heartland wrote the forged document is not going to be welcome news for the warmists. Because almost every one of them has been caught in some way claiming that Gleick was the hero, that he had taken the moral high-road.
Gleick, went the claim, stole the papers to show the immoral behaviour of Heartland. Well, if that is your claim, if your claim is to be the moral virtuous one, then you are the one who must acting impeccably in all other respects.
Given the expert testimony which now backs the huge wealth of circumstantial evidence pointing to Gleick as the forger, it now appears beyond reasonable doubt that he not only lied to Heartland to obtain the documents, but was a bare faced liar to his own friends and supporters when he denied being the forger. Just another environmental issue?

I was reading the global warming news. Something had changed. There was no longer the string of academic papers being cited as evidence for … There was the usual rhetoric from this or that concerned person. Then it struck me. … Continue reading

John Harrison, was the person who created the modern world, almost literally. He is the person who invented a clock that was accurate enough to measure longitude (distance West-East). It was accurate enough to map the globe. Better still, the royal society hated him. They wanted this other person who was using the small change in position of the moon to get the prize. But just like the climate, they might have believed in the theory, but it would not work in practice.

I feel as stupid as a climate scientist

We all laugh at climate scientists for jumping to entirely the wrong conclusion and seeing conspiracies where there are none.
Well. For the last few days I’ve been noticing that emails have been disappearing from my inbox. It all started when I was clearing out my various email accounts which had grown to several hundred megs what with all the pictures (No! Archaeology sites & maps!). So I was busy selecting emails by subject, by sender, etc., and deleting them and suddenly I realised that my inbox was empty. Continue reading

Bona Contention

I’ve been having a spot of bother with the law. No! I mean it literally. It is said (I say it this way because I don’t believe it) that the law in Scotland is based on an ancient concept called Bona Vacantia that anything without an owner belongs to your lord and master the King. Which in a daft sop to sexism means queen.
Now, on principle I’m nobody’s servant. In a modern society we are all equals. We may have different jobs and different skills, and some may be experts etc., but underneath we are all equal before the law. Continue reading

The Heartland Institute Sends Legal Notices to Publishers of Faked and Stolen Documents

(N.B.  Technically this is breach of copyright … but the intention appears to be dissemination … so I think they will forgive me)
February 19, 2012

FEBRUARY 19 — The Heartland Institute has sent legal notices to numerous Web sites, blogs, and publications asking them to take down the stolen and forged documents and what it views as malicious and false commentary based on them.
The following statement by Heartland Institute President Joseph L. Bast may be used for attribution. For more information, contact Director of Communications Jim Lakely at jlakely@heartland.org or 312-377-4000. (NOTE: The Heartland Institute’s first response to the posting of stolen and faked documents can be found here.)
Comment
The big problem for anyone who published any material, is that there is no public defence. So, I shall no go and check my own comments and see if they are fair comment or spreading stolen information.

Sceptics have won – no comment at the Guardian

Obviously we all know the Guardian reports blatant lies** so it is not surprising that when all other papers have cut down on their non-science over global warming, the Guardian like some tantrum toddler continues to rant and scream.
So, having been banned from the Guardian for saying that the UEA broke the law (just like that), when I felt like a bit of fun pointing out to eco-zealots the lie about BIG-OIL, the continuous diarrhoea from the Guardian was …. irresistible? …. no! The last resort, because there’s almost no warmists left posting anywhere except the Guardian (and a few US backwaters).
But, what did I find when I looked through all their recent global warming non-science?
Clearly, even the Guardian comments, where the most blatant double standards applied (anyone could delete anything sceptic … but no one could delete anything pro … and it was filled with lurking trolls who worked as teams to provoke the sceptic into getting banned) even the Guardian is now so filled with sceptics that they’ve had to ban comment or risk having their junk journalism continuously shown up for its hypocrisy and economy of truth.
**In faked documents.

Will it end in a Big bang of fizzle ..o…u…….

For the last couple of years (since swine flu) I’ve visualised the ending of the non-science of global warming as being the same kind of growing lack of interest that appeared at the end of swine flu, and that appears after most media scares.
But I’m increasing worried by this analysis. I know civil servants and public officials will never declare an end (voluntarily) and so they will go for the head in the sand approach hoping it will go away. Continue reading

How the mighty have fallen

I can remember when I was a supporter of global warming thinking: “you have to cut some slack for those  putting the case for global warming … because they don’t have the resources of the other side”.
Of course I was being stupid. I knew from my own involvement in the UK wind industry that most of the Oil Companies were heavily into wind. And even a cursory examination of the effect of rising oil prices is going to show that oil companies make just as much and probably more from rising prices as they cream of the same percentage. The Sierra Club takes fossil fuel money. So does the Nature Conservancy and Rajendra Pachauri’s sustainability conference. So why is the Heartland Institute being torn to pieces for the same behaviour? Continue reading
