Nuclear War

The reason for this article, was to attempt to finish working out how to survive a nuclear war. Because I never faced the aftermath. Instead I focussed on issues like a shelter, because they were much more tangible and understandable. So, now I want to push past the initial month of a nuclear war into the aftermath.

During Bidem’s appalling regime, there were at least a couple of times, when I could foresee a single wrong move by the effectively leaderless US, creating the start of a series of moves that would inevitably end in Nuclear war.

It wasn’t that someone was about to push a button. It was that the situation that Bidem regime was putting the Russian’s into, would force them to respond in a way, which would then cause Bidem to respond in a way … which through a half dozen move and counter moves would inevitably result in the firing of nuclear missiles.

And the reason I knew that, was because I have worked for US corps, and I know how the US intelligence agencies work, and I knew the UK/EU were taken over by brain dead morons who would do nothing to stop the situation escalating. And, then I saw how the Russians were thinking by carefully following their total war strategy … and what I realised, scared the shit out of me several times.

Trump

Trump isn’t better than Bidem’s regime (the People of Jesus the Palestinian are still being murdered … and to be real … Bidem wasn’t there in any meaningful sense).

Instead, Trump has been talking to the Russians. So, it’s a lot harder to get into the position where a single next move takes us to inevitable nuclear war. That doesn’t make a nuclear war less likely, but the build up would be very different. That build up would take time. As it hasn’t started, unlike during the Bidem era,  I am now confident we are not imminently heading to nuclear war (meaning within the next few months).

Lessons Learnt

From my research, I learnt a lot preparing for a nuclear war. The first is that there is a very high chance of survival and that death is largely a matter of geography (being near the blast) and chance (being inside away from a facing window when it hits).

I also learnt that there are MANY daft people and daft ideas when it comes to preparation. Basically the “prepper” sites are either:

  1. Run by well intentioned morons
  2. Run by intelligent people paid by security services to pretend to be morons (to discredit prepping and/or control the narrative)
  3. Run by moronic security services trying to encourage prepping for other reason
  4. Run by big (US) corpse trying to part the gullible from their money.

And, there is almost no point prepping**. Firstly, any exchange will likely be VERY SUDDEN, and most people will never have a clue it is coming. No one is going to be in a nuclear bunker – so what is the point building one for the blast? Nor is anyone going to be sitting in their cellar. No one is going to have a few days to prepare. And, even if they did prepare, most people will realise that they never were the target. So, everything they ever heard about a nuclear war was based on the wrong scenario. You can stock up on food, have a plan for where to shelter … but I would advise against sheltering as your intended strategy for survival.

Because areas after an attack will be of three types:

  1. Areas with relatively little damage where, without government, life will continue albeit with a great struggle to pay for essentials like food (No need for shelter)
  2. Areas that would appear to be fine to stay in, but have such high levels of radiation, that they have to be abandoned rapidly, likely on foot with only a rucksack of goods (No need for shelter)
  3. Areas of total devastation where almost no one survives. (No DIY shelter will make a difference)

So, having no notice of an exchange, people will respond by:

  1. Dying
  2. Staying put in a home with little damage and access to the key essentials and carry on
  3. Grab a few essentials and make a dash to safety … whereupon all they brought will be taken away from them as “contaminated” by radiation.

Everyone could survive the journey out of a contaminated area with the minimal of special equipment. (Winter clothes, fresh water and a shelter). So, the only thing which most people could do to help themselves, is to have water containers … but only if they fill them up BEFORE they anticipate an exchange (if their source of “news” is from the legacy media or government).

The only other preparation of use, is to have supplies … like dental floss … because it will be the odd things that cannot be obtained in areas where people stay put. So, the other scenario where there is something we can do, is one where there is some build up to an exchange and then we get into a situation where people are hoarding supplies. It is not the exchange as such, but the behaviour of people in the face of the threat that is the problem. So, get ready for others hoarding … by hoarding before they do (and before government issue the warning “do not hoard” which is designed to trigger people to hoard).

Long Term

There are things people could do to improve their chances of survival if a nuclear exchange occurred. I would certainly attempt to build a shelter, if I had enough warning. But realistically, the shelter would not greatly change my chance of survival as much as my knowledge of how to respond and knowing how to avoid any areas of fallout by quickly moving. Realistically, I am going to have to admit it …. building a shelter is a way to manage stress if there is nothing else that can be done in a run up to an exchange!

However, when it comes to long term survival, things get serious. The first problem, is that long term, the potential responses become almost infinite, because it is possible to get anywhere on earth. Yet, it is impossible to know in advance which will be havens, and which will be targets, because just as we are looking for safe places, so are those who want to have places from which to fire nuclear weapons. So, the safest place on earth … is just where the US will want to put nuclear weapons … making it the least safe place on earth.

Also, the most dangerous people after a nuclear exchange, will be your own government. So, there is absolutely no point trying to get help from government … because that is how to get yourself killed. (“Welcome …. here is your uniform to go get yourself killed”)

Nor, is heading off into the wilderness a great idea … because it’s the wilderness because it is not a fit place for anyone to survive.

Nor is it a great idea heading to a foreign country … because the people there will be more than willing to take all you have, and as a foreigner, you will be last in line for any help.

Nor is it a great idea being rich … because you will be the prime target of the angry mob.

The best strategy is to be “just another one of the crowd” until … that’s not a good idea, if the crowd takes you toward death …  and then to silently disappear away from the crowd.

Self sufficiency … a great idea, till the crowd find you, and then it is not. And, a great idea after the crowd decide that they too will be self sufficient.

The reality

Firstly, like most people, I’m very likely to survive a nuclear exchange. Secondly, there is not a lot that can be done to change the odds. There are a few situations “at the margins” where knowledge or even preparation can make a difference, but not many.

The problem will be the war and disruption that follows, where millions or billions would die. But, again, it is very hard to figure out how to survive that. One possibility is to find somewhere very remote, where you can scrape a living, to do that now, expecting a nuclear war sometime in the future. But, the chances are that you will die from that location irrespective of a nuclear war, and indeed, after a nuclear war, such locations may be WORSE than locations in the conflict zone.

Mental Attitude

Physical objects will not help much … because the very big difference will be mental attitude, and you can carry that wherever you go. People with a “pioneer spirit” willing to work with others independent of government and make do and mend to get by, will do far better than those reliant on “handouts” or expecting to be told what to do, or “loners” who go off by themselves. Likewise a positive attitude to get through difficulties will make some keep going, where others give up. But, it will also cause some people to do too much, when there is no return and to burn themselves out.

Mental attitude will matter … but it has always mattered throughout human evolution, and so the survivors (us) are the ones who have the right mental attitude to survive. We already have the best genetics to survive, because we are the survivors. The right attitude, is not the mental attitude we are told is the “right stuff” … but the attitude that works. And, although evolution has proven what it is (us) I do not know what that actually means. And, to make it all the worse, it is very hard to change mental attitude, especially if you don’t know what you want to change it to.

So … I admit it! A completely pointless section, except to say it is important and I have covered the subject!

Knowledge

Knowledge will be key. But, not “prepping” knowledge. Instead, the ability to live in a slum type knowledge. Not the ability to live for a few days with a backpack of all the latest gadgets in some scenic park set aside for city dwellers trying out their gadgets. No! The knowledge you need, is the ability to live on the streets in a city, with nothing but the clothes someone didn’t steal from you the night before when you slept.

But also a knowledge about how simple economies work. How villages trade, how to work with others to make work and life more efficient and harmonious. Basically, how to live on the minimum income in a modern nation. How to build a shelter for a family out of discarded rubbish. How to present yourself for work … when your clothes haven’t been washed for 3months.

But, also the knowledge of how to get on with other people in the most difficult circumstances … hunger, cold, strife, danger, etc.

EMF

At this point, I would just like to say something to anyone who is thinking of buying a special bit of equipment that is sold to them as being immune to EMF (an electrical pulse that is often used in films to create a dramatic situation).

HA HA HA HA HA !!!

Firstly, I found no concrete evidence that EMF is a serious issue for modern equipment which has electrostatic protection.

Secondly, OK, if you have time, stick your battery operated radio in the microwave (a very effective and certified EMF shield). And, stick you phone in as well. Indeed, ideally stick your phone in first, set for 5 minutes, turn on. Then put the radio in … OK, OK, I jest … I might allow the phone, if you have power backup, and some good games to play for 10 days of boredom. Personally, I would have something that is bomb proof and doesn’t use batteries like a recorder.

But, only after you’ve got 10-30gallons of water per person of fresh water. And, clean clothes, and a shelter (tarpaulin) and some boots, and … when you have nothing else to prep, and you haven’t accidentally switched on the microwave with your essential gadgets, and then when you are ready and waiting, cradling the microwave in your arms in your shelter for 4 that is smaller than a single bed … yes, there you will be sitting holding your darling microwave with your cherished gadgets in it … waiting for an explosion, which TV scheduled to happen just at peak viewing … because why else would anyone forewarn you?

But seriously, if everything else that was necessary to survive was ready, and I still had time … knowing the exact time the bomb was coming, then I would certainly put a radio, phone, and maybe a few other items in the microwave. But, that scenario will NEVER HAPPEN.

Yes, if I had a £1million shelter, I would certainly specify EMF immune equipment. But, if I had a £1million shelter, I could only justify that, if I lived there 24/7/365 and if that were my existence “just in case” of nuclear war, I think I would take the chances of a nuclear war, rather than living like that.

So, if I had the money to prepare with EMF immune equipment … I would have to be a troglodyte living under ground to make that EMF equipment sensible. Which would mean, I wouldn’t stay where the bombs would be falling … I would move country… and that is how I would prepare, not by buying fancy bits of tech.

The reality of Shelters

No one, except the insane, is going to live in a shelter. And, anyone who tries, will go insane, so it will be true whether you start insane or not.

Unless people have a cellar, most people will not be able to make a good shelter.

If all you have is a poor quality shelter, the best option, is to get away from any fallout cloud or, if you get caught, to wait out the first hours and then get the hell out. Most shelters (except underground ones) have very little long-term utility.

If the threat of an exchange is very high, most people will be able to stay in a well prepared shelter overnight. Most people, will then leave the shelter the next day. At that point, the shelter is useless.

A tiny percentage will stay in the shelter for days on end. They will listen to all the noises of other people going about their business. And, they will feel stupid, and most will leave. So, a tiny percentage of those people who stay in their shelter for several days, will about day 3, discover that everyone around them is now dying. But, a DIY shelter is not that good. So in the small areas where shelters could make a difference maybe half of those who stayed the shelter for three days, will then go on to die from radiation sickness.

So, as a long term shelter, most shelters will not be used long term. Personally, despite knowing the risks I think I would struggle to stay more than three days. I think I would struggle to keep anyone with me in the shelter that long.

Even if there were time to build them, I think the number of people who could be saved by a shelter is possibly less than 1% of those who build shelters.

However, if a family were to sleep 4 to a single bed, then, it is possible that they will be in the shelter when a nuclear exchange occurs. And, that could reduce blast, heat and radiation damage enough to enable them to survive. But, I doubt they will be able to stay in the shelter for more than 7 nights. So, they can only start using the shelter and still be using it, within a ~7 night window. And, within that 7 night period, they are outside the shelter for about 2/3 of the time.

The big problem, is that the only people for whom a shelter substantially changes their chances of living, are the people who will have no idea they are subject to radiation. And, so most people in such areas will assume that there is no radiation. And, people tend to follow the crowd.

And, especially after covid, people will be EXTREMELY reluctant to follow government “advice” (for very good reason). And, detecting high levels of radiation is EXTREMELY PROBLEMATIC. So, most people cannot do it. Even in the highest radiation areas, even those who initially shelter, will soon leave their shelters thinking there is no radiation.

Basically … the people most likely to prepare shelters, are the people least likely to go into one. Whereas the sheep who willingly follow government advice and inject themselves with various poisons, will also follow the advice “not to worry … do not prepare”.

The reality of a nuclear bunker, like a shelter in WWII … is a cold, wet dugout, which turns into a huge puddle at the slightest rain. A shelter, that was so appalling, that people would only take to it, when they could see the bombs falling and would exit, as soon as they felt they could.

Yes, if I had the chance, I would build one. But no, I doubt it will save my life.

**I’ve now realised that whilst there is little point prepping for a nuclear war, surviving after one is going to be extremely challenging. So, even people who suffer no ill effects during the exchange are likely to die from starvation after.  I guess at least 6months before any form of national government gets up and running. That might suggest food shortages for six months, and that suggests holding six months of food.

However, I also suggest that anyone with food will be targetted. So, openly having a lot of food could make people a target. And if you feel you need to prepare, you shouldn’t be stocking up to stay, you should be leaving.
