Warsaw comedy

I have never more wanted the BBC to be impartial on climate, because the comedy potential of these latest talks is just astounding. It would be a cross between blackadder, The thick of it, Dad’s army and that one on the olympic games organisers.
I would certainly have a character who spends the whole conference just losing their way and never arriving anywhere. The Aussies in T-shirts would be drinking beer and belching in the early hours. The British in their suits would be sweating as the Polish host turns up the heating.
Backstabbing and intrigue would be everywhere, developing countries would be like one of those crowds in Monty Python Life of Brian – following any Masiah who offered them money. And the official jargonese and press releases would be totally opaque to everyone including those writing them. There would be a stealth ninja army of Chinese (or is Ninja  Japanese) … oh well, the Chinese would be in coal-smoke filled rooms plotting their next move to undermine the capitalist dogs by putting on their green Mao suits and saying everything they think the capitalist-dog-green-bourgeoisie want to hear.
As for the Poles! What a marvellous way to torpedo the talks! You appoint someone to run them and then publicly sack them in the middle of the talks. Of course it is entirely coincidental as is the entirely coincidental coal talks and the entirely coincidental way these are the first sponsored green games and many of the sponsors are fossil fuel companies.
I’m still waiting to hear that the fast food being eaten by the Aussies in the hall was McDonalds. I can’t imagine it was – but if it was, I can imagine the anger from the environmentalists (even I don’t eat McDonalds).

Did you read in the report from IBT (of 28gate fame) lamenting the BBC’s lack of climate change in comedy and drama? There was a bit where they said that Andy Hammilton had tried without success to write some things but they had fallen flat. Their problem is the comedy is all from the other side of the divide, which is why Josh is so funny.

I remember Mark Steele having a go, too; about a year ago, with equal success.
