Reaction to Pope – yawnn..

As I regularly check news stories on global warming I have a fair idea of the press interest and yes, there have been a few idiotic “POPE BLASTS CLIMATE DENIERS” articles – but generally the response has been pretty mute with what I would describe as “copy filler” articles popping up.
That might change, but so far it looks like a lot of fuss about nothing.
Rechecked – just one mention of  the Pope’s scientific pronouncement in the last 9 news stories, that is really bad!
A thought.
Just trying to understand why this story has not stirred up more interest and perhaps I have an explanation.
Usually “global warming” stories get rooted by editors to some eco-fascist “environmental correspondent” who no doubt works for peanuts in the paper as it allows them to vent all their vile hatred of society dressed up as news.
But perhaps in this case, because this is a story about the pope – this story is getting diverted to the religious correspondent who paradoxically has a better idea of the science and the distinction between religious doctrine and scientific evidence.
So ironically, because it’s the pope, it’s being treated by sensible people of whom many will be sceptics and the fanatical eco-fascists are being kept off this story.
Another Thought
I’m beginning to see this proclamation may have a very interesting outcome. Because if as I suggest, the story gets diverted to serious journalists, the result may be that a whole group of journalists who had hitherto tried ignore global warming, will suddenly be presented with this issue.
Unlike environmentalist and “science” journalists who act as the mouthpiece for greenspin or academia, there is no single authority for religious stories and so these correspondents will tend to be far more respectful to those they disagree with. They will also tend to cover all types of views whether or not they agree. Just the kind of impartiality that is missing from coverage of global warming alarmism.
This may expose a whole new group of impartial journalists to the sceptic viewpoint and that will very likely show them that we have been wholly misrepresented by their own environmental and “science” correspondents.
And these new journalists may not only see, but be very willing to report a very different angle – that of us sceptics – in a way that “science” and “environmental” correspondents would not want to do.
Indeed, if on line comments are anything to go by, a lot of people from a non-catholic background are reacting against the Pope’s proclamation along the lines of “who is the pope to be saying anything on …”. Again this could cause a lot of people in the general public who hitherto ignored this issue to start looking at what we sceptics have been saying.
And again, whilst globally interest in alarmism has dwindled to almost nothing, what we have so far failed to get is a backlash against the alarmism which is needed to end this scam. Paradoxically this proclamation may just be the trigger we need.
I am reminded of what the Japanese admiral is supposed to have said after the supposed victory of the Japanese at Pearl Harbour:

I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant.
