US to help Iran block the Straits of Hormuz

In a strange turn of events, the US has now aligned with Iran and is now helping them to block the Straits of Hormuz. Does Trump imagine that the Iranians are so dumb that they will suddenly start trying to open the Straits instead of keeping them closed?
