The sense today in Trump’s Waco-house looney asylum is of growing desperation. They’ve been through at least half a dozen ideas for forcing Iran to budge and each and everyone has been met with the same lack of concern.
The US can huff and puff … but it cannot open the Straits.
There is no plan to open the straits, instead there is a growing realisation that the west is heading into an oil crisis of Trump’s making; one that will hit the US particularly badly given their enormous debt.
The only way the US can now get money to fund its various wars, is to threaten yet another country with a new war for which it has no money. And, those it threatens are growing increasingly aware that the US is a paper tiger … reliant on the dollar … a currency that has no value, except by the threat of arms it can no longer afford.
And, this is not a short term “issue” from which the US can recover, instead every step forward to freedom from the dollar-military machine is a step that cannot be recovered by the US, because each step away from the dollar-military machine undermines and de-powers that machine making it less and less able to recover. It’s a ratchet effect: each step away is a permanent step away. So, whilst each step may be small, the overall effect is a growing drift away from the dollar-military complex toward freedom.
In short: they are demanding to borrow money in order to build weapons in order to force people to lend them money. It doesn’t take a genius to realise that if everyone the US is threatening decides to work together, they can and are taking down the US.
Hence the desperation.
