The Plagues of Manchester

This piece caught my eye: “While loitering around Oxford Road shamelessly trying to be offered flyers for student nights to feel young again, Mr Cyst saw this Ford Focus completely covered in ice cubes. How did this happen? Maybe it was simply a drunk with a bag of ice and a hatred for American hatchbacks? This could be beginning of a series of plagues to be exacted on Manchester by a wrathful God, like those that bothered Egypt in the book of Exodus. I found the article covering everything from Pizza thefts to thumbscrews to be amusing so I urge you to have a look.
But for heavens sake, this is literally the only story on global warming today that even half raised a smile or made me think, and even then it was a paragraph buried deep in an article on pizza thefts.
Anthony Watts is leading with “deep frozen planets from outer space”, Bishop hill have an enormous cartoon of Hansen, which although amusing, is hardly news. OK, I’m still impressed by  the quality of what they produce, but when I turn to the mainstream media every news story is a less than well informed article by some mud-encrusted local newspaper (sometimes the best).
In the past, I’d watch as first some small news outlet picked up a story, then two or three smaller ones, and then it would go mainstream with the big websites all covering it. I’ve not seen anything like that for yonks. Almost everything is a rehash of old news or tittle tattle where global warming is coincidental to the story. I’ve even started to see totally none warmist stories like “Irish Warming to Queen … global press coverage”.
The global warming scam is beginning to remind me of my brother’s ancient dog: now deaf, blind, incontinent and by the sounds of it going half mad.  It wonders around the house always restless but never doing anything except searching for more food of which it now seems to be allergic to most.
Likewise, the global warming scam has become pointless. It isn’t going to achieve anything, it “lives” but isn’t alive, it is deaf to the evidence:  no trend in the extremes and no CO2 signature of sea level. Constantly popping up in the news, but seldom with anything to say. The global warming propaganda machinery sits there waiting for another bit of extreme weather hoping that if they call wolf loud enough and often enough then sooner or later everyone will believe them.
The decision has been made to pick the right time to take the dog to the vet … if only someone would do the same to the global warming hoax!
