  1. Douglas DC says:

Here in the USA this is a common problem with the Democratic party. We are having a
cold wet spring and the local supporters of wind power have had their head handed
to them by the voters. Now the Wind Power folks are having to shut down because they are surplus (the Bonneville Power folks want to pay the Wind people not to produce,
so they can still sell their “Green” (as in Greenbacks the US Dollar) power back to us
Unwashed at their 12 to 25 cents a KW rate…
Making for some very unhappy voters…

  3. The SNP are true believers and more committed than any party other than the Greens to doing something about GW. The difference is that Alex Salmond is also a very clever politician who can read the public mood better than most. He knows when to keep quiet on an issue and when to make a noise.
Decarbonisation in Scotland will happen the same way as independence – with majority support brought about by demonstrable achievements and clever politics.

  4. As a carbon lifeform – you’ll forgive me if I find the idea of “decarbonisation” to be very reminescent of the burning bodies from the Nazi Gas Chambers.
As for the SNP energy policy, I’m sorry, it would not be appropriate for me to comment on policy.

  5. Jawohl . . . ve are ze carbon Nazis . . .
    Why inappropriate?

  6. Chris says:

They were clever not to make it a front-page issue but as Mr (or indeed Ms) Renewables taps the SNP are just as big believers in, er, renewables. The SNP energy policy is here
    http://www2.snp.org/energy_policy_a_defining_election_issue
where they argue again about renewables creating jobs.
Wasn’t there a story a while ago about jobs being destroyed in Scotland faster than new ones being created ?
