Thanks everyone who answered the quiz “Do you understand the greenhouse effect?”
The initial result showing the distribution of scores for the 35 people who have completed the test is above. To give an idea of what results mean, the average is 25 and coincidence the PhD physicist (who doesn’t usually follow climate) who I asked to complete the test got 25.
What is interesting is the skew to the distribution. This suggests that there’s a fundamental difference between the few who are getting in the 40s and bulk of the responses which are below 30. But given the low number, it could just be a statistical aberration.
For info, the grading was set as follows:
0-9 | Beginner |
10-19 | Average |
20-35 | Sceptic |
36-50 | Professor |
(Note: the original average was lower and it has now increased now that some questions are better worded).
Professor of whot?
Sceptology?
Sceptology?
Do you consider yourself professor of such like Jim McGinn?
It might be interesting to all if you publish your belief of correct answers to your questions, along with acceptable justification of such belief, and your own admitted limitations of your knowledge.
Such can allow others to agree, with discussion of the unknown! the alternative is to get response from those ‘outside’ the army’s 90 percentile folk that can use a new weapon. On one end you have the guy whose curiosity has him disassembling the thing with a nail file. On the other end you have the guy eating the damned thing.
All the best! -will-
Hi,
I have not had any time at all since the first quiz post. I intend to get to it this weekend I hope! It seems like the universe is getting in my way. Why so many birthdays in the family this weekend?

I see you are not interested in the science after all.
The interesting thing is that suddenly I can see how someone teaching the subject can get so much information back on how well they are putting over a subject, just by seeing how people are answering the test.

LOL, I got
Congratulations – you have completed Do you understand the greenhouse effect?.
You scored 39 points out of 52 points total.
Your obtained grade is Professor!
Not too bad, huh.
(i’d have got more but didn’t read some of the questions fully.. lack of time)
Well done!
If I hadn’t set the questions and known the answers, I’m not sure I’d have got that high!
An example of one of my idiot mistakes – the “putting the cold coat on”… I KNOW how insulation works, damn it… but still got it wrong = dumb mistake.
