There’s an excellent piece by by Gerald Warner in today’s Scotsman.
CLIMATE change is real and it is happening very fast. The climate of opinion, that is, regarding the rapidly imploding fantasies of the global warming alarmists.
This would be unusually vehement – albeit honest – in any country, but in Scotland where global warming was almost the state religion and sceptics were viewed as morally equivalent to paedophiles and deserving their place in concentration camps etc., this is a remarkable turn around.
After a decade in which sane commentators have been angered and frustrated by the purblind adherence to the warmist superstition by followers of the Al Gore cult – prominent among them our own esteemed First Minister and President for Life Designate – the whole climate change scam has finally degenerated into a joke, provoking widespread derision.
And it will be particularly unwelcome news in the Scottish Government where the SNP are even now trying to portray themselves as “competent” to govern Scotland ahead of the referendum on Scottish independence this year. The truth is that the Scottish government were gullible, corrupt and incompetent. The SNP ignored numerous warnings this was hocus pocus non-science dreamed up by a small group of academics. They told MSPs lies about the economic case to get the legislation through. And this Nationalist party ended up taking money from the poor in Scotland to help the rich in England.
How could anyone trust the SNP? The Scottish parliament was only really given one bit of extra power over the previous Scottish office. And that was to promote … I was going to say wind … the in truth it was to promote global warming. To promote global warming so that the Scots politicians desperate to do something with this new power would rush to turn Scotland into an industrial wind park – for whose benefit? Tto save the English countryside from being similarly dispoiled.
Yes! The SNP of all people were hell bent on destroying Scotland to help English politicians achieve the EU imposed “green” targets by ensuring that Scotland had far more than its fair share of renewables. In 2010 it was 18% in Scotland and about 10% – since when the SNP have forced the poor in Scotland to pay even more to benefit the rich in England who sit in their London clubs raking in the wind grants.
You could hardly make it up.
how can a Scott be scared of warming up by a degree or two… alternative to freezing…
Warmist must be very skillful people / conmen, to be able to scare people in Scotland, Siberia, Canada…where warming of ANY degree can be improvement
“Warmist must be very skillful people / conmen, to be able to scare people in Scotland, Siberia, Canada…where warming of ANY degree can be improvement”
Indeed. “Warmists” must be very competent, and organised, that the many thousands of climate scientists can be kept “on message” and in constant agreement over several decades, across many countries and cultures, to promote this “conspiracy” of “hocus pocus non-science”. And all to end industry. I’m sure they all chant, along with the millions of their other science brethren who are all in it together (industry-slaying): Vive la academia!
A good man, Gerald Warner. Sound.
Used to blog on the Daily Telegraph, and is greatly missed.
Warmists see conspiracies everywhere!
And when some magician does a trick on TV, do you also wonder why millions mysteriously think the pea is under the same wrong cup?
Is that proof of some conspiracy whereby Are all those people contacting each other and conspiring to believe the same thing?
Or is it very simply that they all get confused in precisely the same way?
The conspiracy theory you hold is that we (including all the scientists) are being tricked in some way.
Why are you obsessed with conspiracies?
To err is human – we all do it. Sometimes on our own and sometimes in groups. There’s nothing odd about that because its part of being human.
And if people are taught to approach something one way, then more than likely unless they’ve had alternative experience … then they will all approach it the same way and come to the same conclusion, which if the approach is wrong, means they are all wrong in the same way.
So, taking a simple example, if you took pre-Darwinian biologists and asked them where species came from … they would all (almost all) say creation. Wow … isn’t that freaky … they all come to the same wrong conclusion.
“Scottish” “Sceptic” illustrates once again that he knows very little about what he writes:
<if you took pre-Darwinian biologists and asked them where species came from … they would all (almost all) say creation.
Nothing could be further from the truth, but wait a minute, “Scottish” “Sceptic” and his followers are not really interested in the truth, only their version of reality which is mostly unreal.
Many scientists, biologists and others realized that evolution existed and wrote about it. Try reading the works of Georges-Louis Leclerc or Erasmus Darwin, Charles’ grandfather. Others also realized that life must have evolved throughout geological history, try William Smith. There are many, many people who knew about evolution. What they did not have was a mechanism. It was the understanding of the mechanism of evolution that was Charles Darwin’s contribution and long lasting legacy. The mechanism of course was “natural selection”. I will leave it to you to understand what is meant by this. You need to spend more time reading up on things before posting. You are just not sceptical but just accept what ever pleases your confirmation bias.
“Nothing could be further from the truth?” – really there is nothing at all which is more untrue than pre-Darwian biologists mostly believed in creationism?
I know at least some were outspoken creationists.
So what about 2+2 = 5?
You are saying this is not “further from the truth” … as there are only two states which are true and false, you are actually saying that you believe 2+2=5.
I can understand how you have problems with the simple concept:
The prediction says HADCRUT will show warming …. it does not, therefore the prediction is wrong.
because in your world, “nothing is further from the truth” that … blah blah most biologists believed in creation pre-Darwinisn.
So if everything is less false that that … of course you believe every bit of nonsense you are fed.
Once again you are completely wrong or dishonest. Have you ever looked at climate data or do you just parrot the rubbish from other d…[Ian, you have crossed the line between critiquing my views and lying about me. This is not acceptable. ]

I’m closing comments on this article.
The title and article in the Scotsman is a bit provocative and Ian is clearly not happy and this is leading to unnecessary personal attacks. The simplest way to stop this escalating is to close the article for comments.
