According to a report in ABC in Australia:
French prime minister Manuel Valls said:
But he said the conference would “probably” be reduced to the official negotiation.
“We are in the process of looking at that but everything which was outside of the COP (climate talks), a whole series of concerts, of rather festive events, will be without a doubt cancelled,” Mr Valls said.
However, it still appears the Governmental meeting continues:
“No head of state, of government — on the contrary — has asked us to postpone this meeting. All want to be there,” Mr Valls said on RTL radio.
The Effect
The usual run of events, is that the eco-nutters all fly to some exotic location, gorge themselves silly at public expense and then the governments produce a completely hypocritical pledge saying we must all cut down on air travel and eating. In other words, a bit like the New Years pledges that are usually made with a hangover – to stop drinking and eating so much.
But, usually, the eco-nutters, having been invited to the party to have their say, feel they have been part of the process of producing these meaningless agreements. As a result they have “buy in” to the agreement all come home enthusiastic for the tremendous progress their eating, drinking and air miles has produced.
However, this time it appears the eco-nutters will be excluded like all the rest of us. This time they will not be coming home after a great holiday in the sun with all their pals, pretending they were doing any good for the planet. This time they will not feel part of the negotiations or the result and this time some of them might just … just … start to see the whole debacle through our eyes.
They are going to be pretty pissed off!
As a result, not only will politicians be facing the growing majority who don’t care at all for this climate non-science, but they will also be facing a new opposition: growing discontent from the eco-nutters, starting to see they are meaningless paper promises. And as a result, they will be demanding much bigger & more expensive sacrifices to their gods. As a result, those like Obama who thought they could win a few eco-nutter votes by throwing a bit of tax-payer money at climate together with a heap load of empty promises, will find that Paris loses them votes from those they thought they could buy with a few cheap promises.
The games up. Even gullible eco-nutters eventually twig they are being conned and that’s when the reality of this crazy policy means their votes get too expensive to buy.
