After my article: “Game set and match for Scottish Independence
Here are a few more pieces to the Jigsaw

The quote I found most interesting is this one from Paul Hudson’s blog:

‘But should North Western Europe be heading for a new “little ice age”, there could be far reaching political implications…’

What implications do you think those could be?
In the 1690s during the sunspot Maunder Minimum a series of colder wetter winters in Northern Europe causes a famine that killed up to 1/4 of Scots and destroyed the Scottish Economy led to the loss of independence. I wonder when this will start being mentioned?

Did you read the articles about the Tories quite liking the idea of completely losing Scottish voters because it would give them a geater chance of winning elections?

  2. No not seen it, thanks for the link, and yes I have considered that possibility – but not known what to do with it.
However, let us suppose one wished the Scots to depart. It would be relatively simple to agitate nationalistic feeling in Scotland. First the Tories would send all their English ministers to “campaign”. Then they would do insensitive things like “harmonise” the currency and propose that Scotland makes bank of England notes legal currency. A regular stream of “gaffs” about representing the “English parliament”, articles from friendly journalists attacking the “Celtic” identity (which is a fake) and saying tartan, bagpipes, etc. are foreign.
Instead the major gaffs have been by the SNP (dictating that companies support independence or face losing government contracts).
It is more likely that this article is playing on the Scottish nationalistic feeling that they want to be in control of their destiny. Nothing will infuriate these Scottish nationalists more than the idea that they are doing the English bidding and aiding the English who want them out of the Union!

That Daily Politics yesterday direct link (34.35min to 45 min)
TV : “Colder less windy winters ..some scientists say rethink on wind power needed”
..based on Lockwood on Paul Hudson plus Lincolnshire anti-wind people
It’s a contentious issue so over to an expert : John weatherman Kettley : “well everyone knows that all the other fuels are going to run out so we do need these wind turbines whatever”
…sorry John “everyone knows” doesn’t cut it ..peak oil etc. does look like a fanatasy
    – Then 5 min talk Conservative Chris Heaton Harris vs Green Party leader Natalie Bennet.
how come these days tables have turned & it’s the Greens who use the evil & devious tactics ?
..she never answered the question rather she just read off the PR sheet
.. complete lies like Germany/Chine is powering ahead ..while UK is left behind
same old crap ..nothing new to debunk
crap like “We are not spending a single penny of government money on insulation”
do you get that ? … cos insulation subsidy comes out of electrcity bills not gov money
..trouble was the 3rd panelist Marion King president of Mastercard in the UK, was just completely taken in.”I don’t know the facts but I didn’t vote against the one in my village”
    – preseneter was not Andrew Neil, but no walk over
    – “Wind Energy is just environmental bling” Chris Heaton Harris

  4. Went to have my shoe mended. As he held the sole on, we got talking about the early cold. He had heard there would definitely be snow and was wondering how people could be so certain. I mentioned Peers Corbyn, climate and sun spots and and then got an earful – that it was about time the politicians should do something about this stupid climate nonsense. (I have sanitised it)
People are getting really upset about fuel bills and “global warming” is now taking the blame.

Note that statement is from Paul Hudson – not from Lockwood, who he is purporting to investigate. Hudson misreprestend Lockwood, says Lockwood: http://scienceblogs.com/stoat/2013/10/28/lockwood-hudson-beeb-maunder-sigh/

  6. > investigate
    Oops: Interview.
