The unofficial end to global warming?

Inspired by the true story that captured the hearts of people across the world, the rescue adventure Big Miracle tells the amazing tale of a small town news reporter (John Krasinski) and an animal-loving volunteer (Drew Barrymore) who are joined by rival world superpowers to save a family of majestic gray whales trapped by rapidly forming ice in the Arctic. … With time running out, Rachel and Adam must rally an unlikely coalition of Inuit natives, oil companies and Russian and American military to set aside their differences and free the whales. As the world’s attention turns to the top of the globe, saving these endangered animals becomes a shared cause for nations entrenched against one another and leads to a momentary thaw in the Cold War.

As the American Spectator put it:

I saw a preview for this on Saturday.  My first thought at the image of three whales hopelessly trapped in the ice pack was that global warming must is now be passé in Hollywood.

So Holywood has dropped the global warming theme and moved on. Despite the obvious bias of Google, common sense now prevails in the top stories on google news. Even the notoriously biased BBC had Nigel Lawson on this morning. It now(or still) ranks lowest in the priority in US polls (link).
It now turns out that Universities are dropping environmental courses through lack of interest:

noaaprogrammer says:
The university where I teach is considering dropping its program in environmental engineering. Reason: For the past 2 years there have been no incoming majors – there are no freshmen or sophomores – and after the two majors that are currently in the program graduate, the program will cease for lack of interest.
And the global climate has stabilised (as if it ever could be said to be stable) now at around 0.13C above the 1961-1990 … which is about what you would expect for the rise in CO2 we’ve seen. And lest we forget, there have been no significant changes in the prevalence of extreme events (contrary to everything we have and continue to be told by the idiots who believe this stuff).
So, I’m going to back the American Spectator and call the (unofficial) end to “Global Warming”.
Global warming was a social and political movement feeding of people’s fear of the future. It was not coincidental that it occurred at the turn of millennium. The end of 2011 will be the last year that any serious commentator talks about a climate prediction as “certain”.

But Scotland is one of the most heavily wind turbined places on earth now. What will happen to all of those happy wind turbines, now that no one cares anymore?

Love the site! A bit off topic, but, here is a non-subtitled version of Henrik Svensmarks’ ‘The Cloud Mystery’. Part 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4XYxL66O_s&feature=related It’s easier to follow than the one in your video section

  3. Red Jeff says:

    Worlds biggest autogyros ?

  4. Ann Cowan says:

The trouble is “they” are still rushing to put up these dreadful wind turbines, and the destruction of our beautiful mountains continues apace… When will they ever learn?

  5. I see support for this site has just about died away – looks like it’s the unofficial end to climate denial in Scotland that we are seeing.
Great news tonight though about the leaked Heartland Institute documents – now the good guys can spend a couple of years constantly re-printing the juicy bits and exposing the heart of the climate denial machine for the filthy, corrupt and dangerous edifice it is.
